Ellen's February Pin Sights challenge

Happy Friday all!

I am starting to get back on track with card challenges and have a card today for the February Ellen Hutson Pin Sights challenge!

Aqua is my favorite color.  I could not pass this challenge up and it was a very good reason to ink up my NBUS Mondo Poinsettia stamp set!
I stamped in Tumbled glass distress ink onto hot press watercolor paper and used a combo of the tumbled glass, bundled sage and evergreen bough to color in.  I had in mind to try a no line watercolor, but stamping the tumbled glass directly and repeatedly onto the wc paper was the first mistake.  I forgot to stamp off, and well, I just went with it.
I also used a diluted mixture of hickory smoke to tuck in between the leaves and did a little dry brushing on the right hand side of the panel.  The flower centers are my nod to mixed media...white pen, yellow and blue Sakura glaze pens and distress inks.  I added the gorgeous sentiment from Julie's Holly and Mistletoe that I stamped in a charcoal grey ink.
Thanks for peeking in and have a great weekend!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
Yes, it has been that long since my last post!
I am getting back into the swing of things and posts will be more frequent.

First of all, welcome to the new Muse: Christmas Visions monthly format!
Now we have time to really focus on the Muse for the month's musings :)

Here is Kimberley's card

Here is where Kimberley's cute card took me...see her mustached Santa...I think he really is stylish and mischievous looking.  I focused on his mustache and have them and a snowflake as elements that Kimberley's card have.  Loved the color combo, too!  I blended distress inks Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough together for the background over my masked mustache shapes that I cut from post it pad paper (I stamped again after the color blending and heat embossed with Hero Arts Puffy White) I stamped my snowflakes with Versamark and heat embossed with a glittery EP, but they did NOT look good.  I salvaged by stamping over them with Versamark and using the Puffy white over top.
I really like the inlaid Jolly that I die cut from a scrap of really glittery red card!
I hope you can play along too!
Please refer to the new format info on the MCV #76 posting of January 11th..
See you again next week at the Muse: Christmas Visions card club!

Muse: Christmas Visions 75

Welcome to Muse: Christmas Visions #75!

So, the time is really here!  Cards have been sent and some already received...Yeah!

This week's card was created with a non Christmas stamp set.
It is the Simon Says Stamp "Spring Flowers" set.  The floral reminds me so much of a poinsettia and I just had to explore and play.  (you know I have about a dozen different poinsettia stamps...)
I used the dies and cut the above shapes from fun foam to use as solid stamps. I then stamped onto my dark grey card front with craft white ink and let all dry. Next step was to take the actual stamps from the set and stamped with Versamark ink, first just the foliage and embossed with fern green EP.  Next was the floral stamp using the Versamark and embossed with the red EP.  My sentiment is from SSS also and white heat embossed.  I added white heat embossed circles from the Spring Flowers set too for a little something-something.

I hope your cards, or most of them, are made and mailed!  Sending my best wishes to you all for a beautiful Christmas.
Thanks for peeking in!

Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags with Muse: Christmas Visions

Muse: Christmas Visions design team and special guests are joining in with the fun today at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags

We are so happy to be sponsoring today with our vellum theme.
Create a tag using vellum in some way!

Please refer to the 25 Days of Christmas Tags Blog for posting your creations for any of the days challenges and details on your chances to win one of the many prizes offered.
Muse: Christmas Visions is also offering a little prize package for anyone participating in the "make a tag using vellum" challenge!
Up for grabs is an MFT Polar Pals stamp set AND a $25.00 GC of the winners choice to any of the sponsoring stores, as seen above in the prize graphic.

If you have a slip of vellum...lets see your tag!

My twig and ornaments tag has a gold mirror card tag base, 3 vellum ornament die cuts that I gold heat embossed with a stamp from SSS Spring Flowers stamp set and I also added Versamark around the edges and dipped into the WOW sparkling gold embossing powder to create a gold rim around each of the ornaments.
A length of gold edged white organza ribbon tied through the tad hole and 3 little white hearts finish it off.
Thanks for peeking in!  Have a wonderful day!

Muse Christmas Visions

The countdown is REALLY ON!

For this week's card, I decided to try incorporating an elegant look in the easiest way possible.
I have a tower stack of patterned papers that were bought years ago, with the very best of intentions.  Time to have a look and see what I could come up with!
using my patterned paper as the background, I layered a die cut in white street scene that I partially cut onto the front, adhered vellum behind the window openings, glued to the patterned card front and tied an elegant, narrow gold edged ribbon.  (I had previously embossed the little trees with gold dots)  My sentiment is cut from watercolor card scraps and also with gold foil card, layered together.
I told you...simple!  I made a dozen of these...

I am offering 6 of these patterned paper card fronts (just the patterned paper) to anyone that might be interested in using this same background.  I will mail to you anywhere in the world.  The first 3 people to request will receive.

I hope that some of these elements inspire you to either look through your patterned papers and create a little scene, or, maybe the white/gold/grey colours speak to you?  Let's see what you can create!

Thanks for peeking in!  Chriss

Simon Says Stamp Grand Prize Winner!!!

Yes!  It is true...I won the Super Duper Grand prize from Simon Says Stamp from the month long beloved Stamptember event!  I have been in disbelief for a few weeks, but look what arrived last Friday!
Five large boxes and all of this inside!!!
I still cannot believe it!
I will be re-designing my craft room, which entails pulling everything out, painting and placing contents back in the room.  A part of this super duper prize were gift certificates from IKEA and Stamp-n-Storage.   I have placed an order to spend my Stamp-n-Storage gift certificate (and more :) and that will arrive shortly.  My craft room re-design will happen in December and I will have a post showing before and after photos.
It is my birthday on Saturday but it feels like I have been celebrating a whole month in advance!  Feeling so very blessed...

Stay tuned...

A big huge thank you to all of the sponsors!

It's Time! Muse Christmas Visions

Check out this handsome suave mouse, all ready to deck the halls!

It is almost that time to at least start thinking about sprucing up for the holiday season and we can't forget about our cards!  This is my card for this week's MCV card offering and inspiration.  I stamped the image with grey pigment ink and clear embossed.  I stamped the image again onto a masking paper and placed over the embossed image.  Some Tumbled Glass distress ink was lightly sponged over the focal image and then I took out my Copic markers and colored in the mouse and branch. For the ornament, I used a white gel pen and red soufflĂ© pen to fill in the color.  I also used a clear WOS pen to go over the white.

Have you been busy with making some holiday cards?  There is still time and I hope that this week's card gives you a little inspiration...a cute critter, center focal image, white space?  How will you be inspired?
I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery!
Have a great week!  Happy creating!
